Inherited Stories® works with a family to create legacy documentaries known as a Vimory® or Vimories®. The Cherished Vimory package is designed to capture an individual’s life journey, as well as the hopes and dreams they have for the loved ones they will leave behind. The Cherished Vimory is designed around capturing and preserving an individual's life story before their terminal illness takes them from us.

      Moments With Loved Ones: We spend two hours with a family and their loved one in a safe environment. This might be at a hospital, hospice or another care setting.

      Future Messages: We will record thoughts and advice on major life events the person living with a terminal illness will not likely get to experience with their loved ones.

  • Professional production of an interview session with 1 person.

  • 3 Meaningful Memory Capture Locations (MMCLs)™. We will travel to physical locations (MMCLs) that hold meaning to the interviewee and capture original video of these locations. See travel details below.

  • Incorporation of 55 digital family photos

  • Incorporation of 5 digital family videos

  • Addition of music

  • 2 revisions

We all consume video regularly these days but most people are unfamiliar with how much time and effort it takes to produce quality work. Because of this, many families have sticker shock when viewing our cost and a common question is: “What’s behind your cost?”

In an effort to help educate people about the value of our work, we have gathered some key benefits to working with us:

Professional Quality

  • We are trained in the art of video storytelling and using professional-grade equipment to do so. Many of our production techniques have historically been reserved for film sets, commercial narrative work and corporate settings. We want families to be able to benefit from those techniques when capturing their loved one’s story.

  • We are diligent and detail-oriented when researching your loved one and editing their piece. It takes time to ensure the quality of your Vimory is top-notch. Depending on a number of factors, our production process can take anywhere from two months to six months to complete a single piece.

What ARE meaningful Memory Capture LocationS™?

Meaningful Memory Capture Locations (MMCL)™: These are physical locations that hold meaning to the interviewee and are directly related to the Vimory’s story structure. Examples include:

  • Childhood home

  • Childhood school

  • College or university campus

  • Career office

  • Family home

  • Favorite places to visit

Inherited Stories will offer to travel to each location and record video of that space to use as part of the Vimory product. Please note, travel costs will incur depending on where the location is (see below).

Travel Costs
Travel to any locations outside a 50-mile radius of Edina, MN is invoiced at a rate of $0.75 per mile. Additionally, any travel further than 2 hours from Edina, MN will require an overnight stay at a hotel and will also be invoiced to the customer. Food and other necessities will not be charged for as Inherited Stories will cover that cost for its employees/agents.

HOW DOES TRAVEL WORK?

Travel within the Upper Midwest
Travel to any location outside a 50-mile radius of Edina, MN is invoiced at a rate of $0.75 per mile. Any travel further than 2 hours from Edina, MN but still within the Upper Midwest (MN, WI, IA, IL ND, SD) will require overnight stays at a hotel and its cost will be covered by the hiring family. Food and other necessities will not be charged for as Inherited Stories will cover those costs for its employees/agents.

Travel beyond the Upper Midwest
Any travel required to locations beyond the Upper Midwest states will require a flight, a rental vehicle and hotel accommodations. In order to reduce costs for a family, Inherited Stories will first attempt to recruit a video storyteller in the area to capture the raw elements of a Vimory while being lead by one of our team members. We will always have one of our staff be present during a Vimory Production. If Inherited Stories is unable to find a video storyteller and must travel with equipment, that will be presented in the Vimory Production Itinerary.

Additionally, if a shoot requires multiple flights and/or multiple days, we will make those charges clear in the Vimory Production Itinerary as well.

Please be assured, all travel distances and associated charges will be itemized and listed individually in the final invoice to a family as well.

STEP 1: Meeting and connecting

We want you and your loved ones to feel comfortable and be happy working with us. That’s why the first thing we’ll do is meet so we can get to know you and your family. This work is personal, it’s your family’s legacy documentary and we want to help capture the stories that matter the most.

During our time together we will provide our organizational guide that will help you gather all the personal elements we’ll need for the Vimory creation process. When you decide to move forward, we’ll have you sign a Vimory Production Agreement, place a down payment, and send in the completed worksheet.

HOW DOES TRAVEL WORK?

Travel within the Upper Midwest
Travel to any location outside a 50-mile radius of Edina, MN is invoiced at a rate of $0.75 per mile. Any travel further than 2 hours from Edina, MN but still within the Upper Midwest (MN, WI, IA, IL ND, SD) will require overnight stays at a hotel and its cost will be covered by the hiring family. All travel distances will be listed in estimated mileage between individual locations.

Food and other necessities will not be charged for as Inherited Stories will cover those costs for its employees/agents.

Travel beyond the Upper Midwest
Inherited Stories will always attempt to recruit a video storyteller in a local area who can provide equipment and recording services to execute the Vimory Production. This agent will work directly with our Vimory Storytellers to ensure we are capturing what was agreed to in the Vimory Production Agreement.

If Inherited Stories is unable to find a video storyteller and must travel with equipment, those estimated costs will be presented in the Vimory Production Itinerary. Any travel required to locations beyond the Upper Midwest will require a flight, a rental vehicle, equipment shipping costs, and hotel accommodations. If a shoot requires multiple flights and/or multiple days, that additional cost will be made clear in the Vimory Production Itinerary.

STEP 2: Recording

Our next step is to coordinate a time to record the conversation with you or your loved one.

We’ll also work with you to share your digital photos and videos so we can incorporate them into the Vimory!

With The Cherished, we will stay around for two hours to capture candid video of a family spending time with their loved one. Some people have played a favorite game, shared some favorite foods, most of all — it’s important to enjoy each other’s company and have fun!

STEP 3: creating the vimory

We begin building and editing the Vimory based off the worksheet you have filled out. We’ll add music, graphics and we might surprise you depending on what your interests are.

Two revision requests are included with each Cherished Vimory. Once the Vimory has been completed to your satisfaction, all that’s left is to share the Vimory with you.

STEP 4: delivering the vimory

We primarily deliver Vimories as a digital download.

For a limited-time and while supplies last, we will also gift the Vimory to you on a custom-wooden USB drive inside of a protective case. A marker will also be provided so the person whose stories have been collected may write their name to capture their signature.
